Spring-Summer 2021 Makeup Trends from M•A•C Cosmetics
In the past year, we have barely worn makeup outside our homes. But whether it's just red lipstick, a dab of concealer under the eyes or mascara on your lashes, makeup is still a part of our lives with a difference. It is no longer highly technical or obsessed with perfection but rooted in reality and self-reliance.
Lyne Desnoyers, Executive Director of Makeup Artistry at M•A•C Cosmetics, said makeup "feels generationally less divided now."
"There are as many Gen-Zers as 50-year-olds choosing to style themselves with a stripped back face or really embrace creative color," said M•A•C Senior Artist Keri Blair.
For Spring-Summer 2021, M•A•C embraces four trends--Natural, Glam, Blur and DIY--in our new world order.
Natural is all about the cared-for complexion. Matte in finish yet radiant in feel, the trend is about makeup that doesn't look like makeup but is very groomed.

For the Glam Trend, eyes find focus in metallics and defined shapes. "It's very glamorous in feel but still very light in execution," said Marcelo Gutierrez.
Essentials for the Glam Trend: M•A•C Dazzle Shadow Extreme, M•A•C Lash and M•A•C Extra Dimension Powder
Blur is all about unstructured definition and deliberately undone edges. This direction is largely rooted in product technology, with Powder Kiss formulas for eyes, cheeks and lips.
Essentials for the Blur Trend: M•A•C Powder Kiss Lipstick, M•A•C Powder Kiss Eye Shadow and M•A•C Glow Play Blush
The DIY Trend is an "individualistic and expressive direction which is about seeing makeup as a delightful accessory instead of a curative necessity," said Fatima Thomas.
It's all about inclusion, diversity and celebrating differences.
