Gucci launches Doraemon collection for CNY
Gucci has launched a capsule collection in collaboration with Fujiko-Pro featuring Doraemon in celebration of Chinese New Year 2021.
The collection celebrates the character from Fujiko Fujio’s beloved manga and anime series. As Gucci describes, Doraemon is a cat-shaped robot that arrived from the 22nd century to both help and torment his best friend Nobita using a variety of gizmos stashed inside his four-dimensional pouch.
The over 50-piece collection includes coats, jackets, track pants and shorts with Gucci’s classic GG monogram pattern mixed with Doraemon accents. Gucci's trademark green/red stripe accent can also be seen on sleeves and hems and over bags and wallets.
The collection items will have lots of red and gold tones, both auspicious colours for the Chinese during the traditional festive season.
The items in the collection are priced from $189 To $5,351. They are available at Gucci online and select Gucci locations. They will be widely available on January 12, exactly a month before Chinese New Year begins. On that day, Gucci will roll out thematic Pins and also a Year of the Ox-themed Doraemon disguise. The Italian fashion house will also launch China exclusives.
