Our favorite restaurant pasta dishes
There's no doubt that Filipinos love pasta. The success of Jolly Spaghetti is proof of this. Almost every restaurant has a version of spaghetti.
Here are our favorite pasta dishes. Not all are from restaurants. Some are from home-based businesses. Also, they don’t all claim to be authentic Italian in preparation and taste.
Cibo's Rigatoni Torta al Telefono pasta "cake" would make a good conversation piece during dinner parties. But it's more than just the look. Penne al Telefono is a Cibo bestseller because people love the way it tastes. The taste of tomatoes and mozzarella, when combined with herbs and aromatics, is one of the reasons why we love this. Rigatoni Torta al Telefono is priced at Php1,997 (good for 4-5 people). You may order by calling 889-11111 or via Grab Food, if Cibo is available in your area.
Bhest Lasagna is our favorite lasagna. Tender and juicy meat sauce, cheese and béchamel sauce sandwiched between layers of al dente lasagna sheets is so comforting. The meat sauce is not sweet nor overwhelming in taste. Prices start at Php450. Also, you need to try their garlic bread. You may get in touch with them at 0917-8360160. Follow them on Instagram.
There are many recipes online teaching us how to duplicate Mamou's Lorenzo Truffle Cream Pasta. But this cream-based pasta dish is incomparable because we've enjoyed it for so long and we find comfort in eating it. Lorenzo Truffle Cream Pasta can be ordered from any Mamou's branch for Php395 per serving (good for 2-3 people). Follow @mymamou on Instagram for more information.
Malou's Cuisina's lasagna is simple and tasty. We love how Filipino it tastes but it's not sweet. It's cheesy and melty, just the way we like it. Prices start at Php350 for a pan (can be shared by 1-3 people). Follow @malouscuisina on Instagram for more information.
Charlie Chan Pasta from Yellow Cab is another favorite. This has a signature spicy and sweet flavor that we've loved for years. Somehow, the shiitake mushrooms, chicken strips and peanuts work to make the taste of this dish unique. Order this from Yellow Cab (https://delivery.yellowcabpizza.com/) or via Grab Food. Each serving costs Php210.
