Olivia Rodrigo Releases ‘Vampire’ Calling Out An Ex; Makes Spotify Crash

Singer Olivia Rodrigo’s debut single Drivers License definitely made headlines and broke records when it was released in January 2021. It had the most single-day Spotify streams of all time in days!

The song “Vampire” from her new album “Guts” has reportedly resulted in Spotify crashing, at least according to a large number of users.

In the song, the young singer chastises an ex.

“rage: “Bloodsucker! Fame fucker! Bleeding me dry like a goddamn vampire!”

To underscore the man’s being a leech, she sings, “I should have known it was strange you only come out at night … you sunk your teeth into me.”

“I wrote the song on piano, super chill, in December of last year. And my producer Dan and I finished it in January… I’ve just always been obsessed with songs that are very dynamic,” Rodrigo told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 about the origin of “Vampire.”

In the song, Rodrigo hints at the ex being older and warns, “girls your age know better.”
