Xiumin Of EXO Releases 1st Solo EP Called ‘Brand New'
Xiumin of SM Entertainment group EXO finally released his first work as a solo artist, an EP titled “Brand New” with five tracks.
"I had taken a long hiatus as a singer. I had to fulfill my mandatory military service, and when I was discharged, other members went to the Army," said Xiumin, who is EXO’s oldest member, during a press conference.
Aside from the “Brand New” title track, the album, which has a 1990s and early 2000s vibe, has "How We Do," "Feedback," "Love Letter," and "Serenity." In “How We Do,” Xiumin sings with NCT member Mark Lee.
The title track “Brand New” has lyrics that talk about a person’s promise to show his new side to the one he loves.
"I still like the music style (Y2K music) so much, so I wanted to make it new in my own style," said Xiumin.
Xiumin debuted as an EXO member with its debut single, "Mama," in 2012. EXO has then churned out many hit songs, such as "XOXO," "Growl," "Overdose," and "Call Me Baby."
