The Best Affordable Sunscreens Available In The Philippines Right Now
By this time, we all know how important sunscreen is and how our beauty routines would not be complete without good broad spectrum protection. Some dermatologists recommend wearing SPF indoors and even on rainy days, so it is non-negotiable.
Unfortunately, some sunscreens can be expensive and some of the affordable ones don’t really work as well as we’d want them to.
So here are some of the affordable ones we like:
Fairy Skin SPF 50 +++ Premium Brightening Sunscreen
This sunscreen is famous on TikTok mainly because at its price (around Php190), it offers ample protection from the sun. It also claims to have a quality that Asians like and that's brightening. Fairy Skin is a chemical sunscreen with a runny texture and a scent that will remind you of glue. This smell is not unpleasant though. There's a slight white cast that eventually disappears.

Skin Acqua UV Watery Gel SPF 50+ PA++++
The texture of this Japanese sunscreen is watery, considering that it's a gel. It applies smoothly and there is a slight white cast upon application which disappears in minutes. It is waterproof and sweat-proof. One of the things we love about this chemical sunscreen is that it doesn't sting the eyes. Another pro is that it settles quite well into the skin and doesn't make it oily.

Belo SunExpert Dewy Essence Sunscreen
This ultra-lightweight, hydrating sunscreen is also famous on TikTok because it makes a good base for makeup, it’s not heavy on the skin, and it’s not sticky. It is water-resistant and works as soon as it is applied, according to the brand’s claims (normally, you’d need to apply 15-30 minutes for sunscreen to work). It has SPF 50 and PA++++ that provide broad spectrum protection against harmful UV rays and is infused with Pentavitin that gives up to 72 hours of continuous hydration. Another advantage of this sunscreen is its availability and accessibility.

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++.
This Japanese sunscreen has a cooling effect on the skin. It also has moisture-binding and skin-plumping Hyaluronic acid and contains citrus essence to hydrate and smoothen skin. The water-based texture ensures fast absorption and it leaves no white cast. If it has a disadvantage, it’s that it can sting your eyes.

Dermaction by Watsons Face and Body Lotion
This lightweight sunscreen face and body lotion has a water resistant formula aand provides broadband spectrum protection from harmful rays, which are UVA, UVB, HEV (Blue Light). These are major causes of dark spots, skin damage and premature ageing. We love it because it is a multi-use product so if we’re going to the beach, there is no need to bring a second sunscreen for the body.

Issy & Co. Active Skin Tint
This isn’t a traditional sunscreen and it may be difficult to reapply (so it’s best to reapply with an non-tinted sunscreen) but this blurs the skin and provides ample protection on days that aren’t too sunny with UVB/UVA SPF 35. It helps improve skin texture and control sebum production with niacinamide and nourishes and hydrates with squalene and glycerin.
