5 Lip Glosses Gen Z Loves The Most

Millennials love their liquid lipsticks but Gen Z, based on what we’ve seen on TikTok, is all about lip glosses and lip oils. TikTok beauty girls like Marj Maroket and Kai Javier only wear lip liner and lip gloss as part of their clean makeup looks. Because we’re wearing masks most of the time, bullet and liquid lipsticks seem to be relics from the past.

But today’s lip glosses are of a different breed. They’re no longer super sticky or tacky. They just make your lips, well, glossy. They’re also mostly nourishing so they double as your lip balm.

Here’s a rundown of the most popular lip glosses and lip oils right now. Disclaimer: We only know two brands of local lip gloss but there are so many good ones out there worth trying and we’re no experts and we’ve only tried a few.

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

We don’t make the rules. Queen Riri’s Gloss Bombs are Gen Z favorites. They will give you kissable-looking luscious lips, which goes with Rihanna’s inspo for the Gloss Bomb, “I made it because I wanted everyone to get kissed more.” The lip gloss was lightly moisturizing when worn but had the tendency to settle on our lip lines over time. Who cares? We still loved it and bought the keychain with two lip glosses. There are different versions of the Gloss Bomb but we like the original version. Get it for Php1,330 each here.

Colourette Cosmetics Colourglaze Plumping Lip Gloss

Colourette Cosmetics is known for the Colourtints but the Colourglaze, a collection of four lip glosses, is also one of their best products. These glosses are moisturizing, shiny and smoothen the look of your lip lines. Our favorite is Serotonin, a dusty pink. We also like the clear one called Daydream. Get these for Php349 each here.

Kosas Wet Oil Lip Gloss

This lip oil from a clean beauty brand is sadly not available in the Philippines but you can order it from their website or Sephora in the US (you can use alternative shipping methods for this as they don’t ship directly to the Philippines). The moment you apply this lip oil, you’ll feel how nourishing it is. It’s not surprising as the product contains hyaluronic acid, evening primrose oil, avocado oil, peptides, konjac root and Shea butter. You can get this for $22 here and here.

Issy & Co. Hydragloss

Hydragloss is part lip oil and part lip gloss that, true to its name, hydrates lips and leaves a juicy slick of color and a very glossy but not sticky finish. It’s not the most moisturizing but it does its job and for Php299, that’s not bad at all. We love wearing this on top of lipstick. Get this here and here.

Maybelline New York Lip Lifter Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid

We love the angled applicator of this and the formula is very new generation, meaning it’s hydrating (thanks to hyaluronic acid) and non-sticky. Another thing we love is the big applicator. What we’re not a fan of: It’s not very long-lasting but for Php248, the product delivers hydration like it promised. Get it here.
