Watsons Invites Customers And Partners: Let's Do Good Together
Floods, forest fires and poverty around the world are enough proof the planet is suffering and something needs to be done. At the root of these problems is the consumption of goods by humans and the products we use, from sourcing to packaging.
Realizing this, A.S. Watson Group and its 13 retail and manufacturing brands have launched its Social Purpose and Sustainability Vision 2030, pledging actionable responses to the growing call for responsible consumption and production through its global operations.
Watsons’ social purpose “to put a smile on our customers’ faces” is a core value to its business and deeply rooted in the company’s heritage.
The Watsons Sustainability program pledges to restore thousands of perfect smiles through life-changing free surgeries to kids with cleft palates, reduce tons of carbon dioxide emissions and offer more sustainable choices in stores.
At the heart of Look Good, Feel Great is DO GOOD, which Watsons has been advocating for years. The world looks good when communities are flourishing in a clean environment from “clean ocean” initiatives to “clean beauty” protocol. The spirit of doing good is deeply ingrained in the Watsons culture. Its founder, Alexander Skirving Watson provided free medicine to the needy in its first dispensary in 1841. Today, this heritage lives on when everyone feels great when communities are thriving - encouraging employees, customers and partners to live physically and mentally healthy lives.
“Watsons has always been at the forefront of sustainability since its founding 180 years ago. In recent years, we’ve invested in various initiatives that take our commitment to the planet that sustains us all. And we are very glad that our customers and supplier partners have been very open to help Do Good for the planet through Watsons Sustainability programs,” said Danilo Chiong, Watsons General Manager.
Watsons Philippines is instituting many social and environmental changes in its ecosystem with its holistic Sustainability program with a shared mission to inspire change and making an impact anchored on four pillars - Planet, Community, People, Customers : Reducing environmental footprint with a goal of 65,000 kg of trash collected via Trash for Cash program and 40 million plastic bottles to be recycled are projects geared towards a sustainable Planet, giving 3,300 perfect smiles through free cleft surgeries and medicines to the needy for its Community, ensuring healthy and sustainable work force for its People, and providing more sustainable product choices for its Customers.
"It is truly encouraging to be part of Watsons Philippines' Do Good Webinars where we can show concrete ways for businesses to do their share not just for the planet but also for their stakeholders. It’s not every day that big brands come up with opportunities to take the lead in doing good and encourage its customers and partners to engage in meaningful climate action,” said Atty.
