We Discovered Where To Get Good Croissants In Metro Manila
One of the skills we've picked up during this pandemic is sourcing but sometimes, this newly-found skill fails us. So we've been craving for croissants since the pandemic started and Starbucks keeps running out whenever we try to order from Grab Food. Since we don’t leave the house, the craving has remained a craving.
Until one day, someone gave us a box of croissants from an Instagram-based shop called @butterboyph.
The box contained two plain croissants and four other pastries. The croissants were flaky on the outside and light and airy inside. We liked that it was slightly salted.
I realized that we had been following the baker (@hjoldr) on Twitter for a while.
The bakeshop is owned by an architect and a doctor who, lucky for all of us, like to experiment in the kitchen in search of good food.
To order, simply go to their website. Everything is for pre-order and not on demand but sometimes, they have boxes available for same-day pick-up. Their location is Sampaloc, Manila. They have an in-house shipping arrangement or you could have it picked up.
We love the Plain Butter Croissant (only Php54!), Strawberry Danish (Php80) and Pain Au Chocolat (Php64.50). We can't wait to try their other breads and pastries, like the Truffle Fondue Basket and the Apple Danish. Everything is priced reasonably and the pastries are large. The most expensive item is the Salmon Danish at Php120.
