If You're a Feminist and You Like Fonts, Here's Just the Thing For You

Women’s rights have recently been on the forefront of discussions.

Social media has become some sort of a safe space and its users, a support group, especially in instances when women disclose their stories of work discrimination and of sexual harassment.

Because of the growing movement, a New York-based ad agency Young & Rubicam, in collaboration with Women of Sex Tech, another New York-based group of entrepreneurs, created a typeface that aims “to amplify the message advocating for gender equality.”

Yup, the fight for women’s rights just became a bit more creative.

“The Feminist Letters” is a font style where every letter and number is designed to symbolize a specific purpose, particularly those which are experienced by women today.

The letter A, for instance, stands for ass-kicking career woman. And B is for birth — i.e. the “essence of being a woman,” right? Meanwhile, C is for campus assault, and so on and so forth.

This innovative and imaginative typeface was said to be first used in January 2017 during the Women’s March in the US. Some participants marched with signs and placards that use the feminist letters.

But this font style can go beyond protests.

Use these letters for posters than inspire, even as wallpapers in your laptop, or as banner photos in your profile page. They’re unique and cute. And they’re no doubt representative of who we truly are and what we fight for.

So if our words sometimes fall on deaf ears, maybe images in letters can help.

Now that’s the kind of statement that calls attention.
