Take a Step on the Dark Side
For many lipstick lovers, it's the season to go dark and maybe never go back. Fall, even if we don't have it in the Philippines, is my favorite season because I can bring out my burgundy and dark purple lipsticks. A dark lip is very sophisticated. It makes the wearer look mysterious and it's something that you can wear with an almost bare face.
First a reminder: To be able to carry off really dark lipstick, your lips need to be exfoliated and moisturized. A lip primer would also help to keep the lipstick from bleeding and make the color last longer. Try MAC Lip Primer.
Here are some dark lipsticks to try this season:
Lancome x Olympia Le-Tan Rouge Absolu in Rouge Profound
This wine red comes in special packaging (engraved with an imprint of lips and the signature “Olympia xxx). This color is from a limited edition collection so get it while you can.
Lancôme x Olympia Le-Tan Rouge Absolu in Rouge Profond, $32
MAC Lipstick in Sin
Talk about a classic. Sin is a burgundy in a matte finish (think bone dry). This is as dark as you can get for the office without HR telling you to tone it down. We love it even if it is drying because it looks amazing.
MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Sin, $17.50
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Ingrid
Described as a deep dark burgundy red, NARS Audacious in Ingrid is the luminous version of the dark lip. Best worn with a lip liner so the color doesn't migrate.
NARS Cosmetics Audacious Lipstick in Ingrid, $34
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira
This formula is one of the most comfortable liquid lipsticks in the market today. Vampira is a warm burgundy that you can actually wear all year long.
Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira, $20
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania
Let us not forget that NYX was one of the pioneers in the liquid lipstick game. This matte deep violet looks scary in the tube but is actually a deep berry once on the lips.
NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania, $6.50
