The Lotion that Broke the Internet in 2017
People are talking about it and going after it. It is not a girl, a rumor, a unicorn or even a Pokemon but a black tub containing a lavender lotion called Sleepy.
We don’t know exactly how it started but it was around the middle of 2017 that people started to talk about Lush Sleepy Hand and Body Lotion and how it made you sleep 15 minutes after application.
“You'll sleep well after dipping into this dreamy lotion, made with a gentle oatmeal infusion, calming lavender flower and comfortingly sweet tonka absolute. A rich, malty and floral perfume conjures up visions of sugarplums and hot drinks topped with whipped cream while the heavenly ministrations of creamy Fair Trade organic cocoa butter and delicate lavender water cool and enrich the skin. Blanket your body in this lovely lotion before stepping into soft pyjamas for snuggly nights beside the fire,” said Lush.
A look at the ingredients shows nothing unusual: Lavender oil; ylang ylang oil; jojoba oil; Illipe butter; almond oil; Tonka; limonene; glycerin and cocoa.
Apparently, Sleepy was released as part of Lush’s Christmas 2016 offerings. It’s scent, apparently, is the same as that of Twilight. Some people say the scent is cloying but we think it’s so mild.
So does Sleepy work? Amazingly, it does. You do fall asleep within minutes of application and it’s a sleep that is restful. You wake up feeling wonderful. That’s not a lie. Lush doesn’t need people to broadcast that Sleepy works. They can barely keep it in stock.
So how does one get hold of a tub of Sleepy?
You actually go on a waiting list and when someone from a Lush store calls you and tells you it’s available, you buy three big tubs (there is smaller one) to last you until the next restock.
Trust us on this. We've tried it.
