Meet Francia: Friend and Lifesaver to Selena Gomez

It's one thing to give your friends gifts and words of inspiration in their times of need. But it's another thing to actually sacrifice and help give them life.

The latter comes rare but Selena Gomez is lucky enough to have one. Meet Francia Raísa, kidney donor and awardee of the most amazing friend of this generation.

Selena didn't keep Lupus a secret. She was very outspoken about it - using her influence and fame to spread awareness about this not-widely-discussed disease.

She has been continuously going on tour and even releasing new hits and hanging out with her beau, Abel. However, yesterday she announced why she has cancelled some of her work and tours to focus on her health.

Unbelievable as it may be but her disease got to the point where she actually needed a kidney transplant and luckily for the singer, she didn't have to look far.

Selena Gomez shared her blessing on her Instagram. 

I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made. The 29-year-old miracle is an American actress. She is most known for her roles in Bring It On: All or Nothing and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

US Weekly reports that a source close to Francia tells of her relationship with Selena. She is apparently very protective of her and would definitely do something grand as that without second thoughts.

Selena was diagnosed with Lupus in 2015 and has been going in and out of the hospital because of it. In early 2017, she has been on the kidney transplant list.

Sources say that they're both okay now and recovering. Thanks to Francia and her kind heart, we could see more of Selena. She is truly an extraordinary woman who gave a new meaning to friendship.
