Light Reads You Can Binge On These Rainy Days
If there’s a season perfect for finishing your to be read pile, it’s this season. From June till September, staying inside and cuddling with your favorite stuff toy (or special someone) while drinking hot chocolate and listening to soothing music sounds way better than braving the torrential rain, the headache inducing traffic, and the metro’s pollution.
If however, you’ve ran out of books to read (unlikely!), here are some great books that you can add on your to-read pile. These books from different genres would make your tears fall and your hearts full.
Jellicoe Road
This Printz-Award winning masterpiece from Melina Marchetta will introduce you to a coming of age story where friendship transcends judgment, where love definitely conquers fear, and where family comes in different forms. Melina Marchetta’s style of excellent storytelling will grab you from the first line and won’t let go until it squeezed out all of your emotions leaving you crying and full of appreciation and hope.

Best quote: “Maybe that’s why humans find it so hard getting over love affairs. It’s not the pain they’re getting over, it’s the love.”
Me Before You
Released in 2013, Me Before You is a book ahead of its time. Discussing the once taboo topic of assisted euthanasia, Jojo Moyes gripping story of Louisa and Will gave us a glimpse of bravery in surrender. Who knows, just like Louisa, you might find yourself gaining the courage to get out of the rut you’re probably in. If you have watched the movie, we still highly suggest reading the book. Moyes’ charming writing style is a delight to read even if it’s asking you to shed a few tears.

Best quote: “You only get one life. It’s actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.”
God-Shaped Hole
Inspired by Chris Cornell’s lyrics, “If your intentions are pure, I’m seeking a friend for the end of the world,” God-Shaped Hole is Tiffanie Debartolo’s debut novel. Riddled with philosophies and quotable lines, Jacob and Trixie’s story is a eulogy on love that challenges preconceived notions, inspire believers and convert doubters.

Best quote: “You can’t put life on pause and then catch up with it later when you have more energy to give. You have to play it all the way through to the end.”
A Walk to Remember
In the romance genre, Nicholas Sparks has become an institution, and of all his works, nothing beats the story of Jamie and Landon. Theirs is more than a story of the good girl changing the bad boy. Theirs is more than the story of someone dying. Theirs is a story that takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions and of believing in something greater than the present.

Best quote: “Love is like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it.”
Land of the Beautiful Dead
In the indie world of publishing, R. Lee Smith is a household name. Famous for writing books that demand long attention span, her books usually are thousand pages long. Her latest book, The Land of the Beautiful Dead, is her take on the zombie hype. This is not a horror novel. This is not a dystopian novel. You know how they say, "don't judge the book by its cover"? This is one of them.

This is, however, more than a love story. As you meet Lan and Azrael, you will enter a world where beauty and death reigns. Managing to bring heart in her every word, R. Lee Smith will introduce you to a story where stereotypes don’t exist.
Best quote: “You were all my best days…and most of my worst ones, too, but that’s all right. The worst ones weren’t any worse than they might have been with anyone else, but the best ones were so much better.”
