It’s the second month of the year and we all know what that means. Valentine’s Day is just a couple of weeks away and all the cheesy couples will be out to celebrate like it was a typical national holiday.

Love is constantly evolving and it’s a great thing that the English language can keep up with it. As crazy as relationships can get nowadays, words crazily evolve. Here are five slang terms you may come across: 

Bae

Unless you happen to be a #TitaofManila or living under a rock, the term ‘bae’ should be an easy one. It’s a term of endearment for your significant other, shorter for ‘babe’ or “before anyone else”. It can also be used to describe someone you wish actually was your bae.

Fun fact: The term means an entirely different thing in Danish. 

Tindering

Assuming you girls know what Tinder means, this one is just as easy as the first one. Tindering is when you’ve got a pretty awesome profile on the app and regularly swiping left or right on other Tinder profiles you want to get to know more on a deeper level.

Slow Fade

Have you ever been in a situation when you’ve been going out regularly with a cute guy, exchanging text messages and emojis with him on Viber on a regular basis, and then for some weird reason he drifts apart day by day until you realize it’s already the end of the relationship? This, ladies, is what you call a slow fade. A gentle letdown for the other party simply because we couldn’t tell them straight to leave us. 

Manicorn

The elusive, ideal and perfect man that we led ourselves to believe exists but we haven’t really found anywhere. A manicorn sounds romantic but might take you forever if you keep on waiting for him to arrive in your life.

Cupcake

Cupcake is the slang for cuddling. When you’d rather stay home on a Saturday night with your boyfriend and uhm, cupcake. We know it sounds awkward but apparently, it’s legit slang for all the cuddling you want to share with the love of your life.
