Korean Blockbuster Film ‘The Roundup’ Showing In The Philippines on June 22

The action comedy film “The Roundup” started showing in Korea last month and it has became the fastest film since the beginning of the pandemic to have over two million moviegoers on its first weekend. This is the highest daily score for a Korean title since June 2019.

For three consecutive weekends, “The Roundup” topped the Korean box office, surpassing 10 million moviegoers. The film is currently the #1 film in the Korean box office and is also the #1 Korean film of the year

Here’s good news to all Hallyu fans: The blockbuster Korean comedy action film is now coming to the Philippines in SM Cinemas nationwide on June 22, 2022!

Lee Sang-yong’s The Roundup is the follow-up to 2017’s “The Outlaws.” Ma Dong-seok, aka Don Lee, reprises his role as the heavyweight and relentless law enforcer. In this movie, he travels to Vietnam to extradite a petty criminal, only to pick up the trail of a ferocious killer.

“You can fully expect upgraded action and Ma’s comedic chops in this sequel,” said director Lee Sang-yong

Actor Don Lee of the 2021’s Marvel Hero “Eternals” and 2016’s “Train to Busan” won over the audience as Ma Seok-do, who stops at nothing to catch criminals. He will certainly up the ante in “The Roundup” and show what his character is really made of. His co-stars Choi Guy-hwa, Heo Dong- won (Oh Dong-gyun) and Ha Joon (Kang Hong-seok) all return as Major Crimes Unit members. Also returning is Jung Jae-kwang who plays rookie Kim Sang-hoon. One of “The Outlaws’” most memorable characters, Jang Isu of the Isu Clan (played by Park Ji-hwan) returns to add comic relief to the film.

In “The Roundup,” Ma Seok Do and his police station’s violent crimes squad chase down a powerful new villain (played by Son Suk-ku).

The movie was filmed in Vietnam and the filmmakers, cast and crew had to work around COVID-19 restrictions to complete the movie.

In the Philippines, “The Roundup” is distributed by Glimmer Inc., which will show the movie at SM Cinemas nationwide. The company is owned by celebrity and entrepreneur Grace Lee.
