'Cinderella' From CDO Trends on Binibini Coronation Night
The words "...to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable" were spoken by Cinderella and she may already have a prince but she took home a crown.
Cinderella Faye Obeñita was named Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental during Sunday night's Bb. Pilipinas 2021 competition held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City and her name trended because of her reply to a question in the pageant’s question-and-answer portion.
Hannah Arnold from Masbate, was crowned Bb. Pilipinas International 2021. Bb. Pilipinas Globe was Maureen Montagne and Samantha Panlilio got the Binibining Grand International crown. First runner-up honors went to Gabrielle Basiano and the second runner-up was Meiji Cruz.
Obeñita, who is from Cagayan de Oro, replied to designer Michael Cinco's question in the question-and-answer portion.
"How important are luxury items like bags, clothes, and jewelry for a woman, when the national economy is down and struggling?" asked Cinco.
"In life, we always find ourselves in a crossroad of choices. Women always have a choice - whether to prioritize luxury items while we are facing a pandemic, and we also have a choice to embrace the concept of a New Beautiful, which is responsive to the needs of the times, and adaptive to the change of times. I think I would choose to be that woman, the one who understands the problems of the Philippines, the problems of my community, so that we may be able to uplift each other. I would be that kind of woman, to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable," said Obeñita, who is from Cagayan de Oro.
The panel of judges for the 57th edition of the pageant included designer Rajo Laurel, broadcaster Pinky Webb, Novotel GM Maria Garcia, Ever Bilena CEO Dioceldo Sy, actor Enrique Gil, Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, actrss Liza Soberano and Tourism Undersecretary and spokesperson Benito Bengzon Jr.
