Charlie Dizon shines in 'Fan Girl'
If anyone is in contention for the title of "Breakout Star of 2020," that person is now out of the competition unless their name is Charlie Dizon.
Dizon, a 24-year-old actor, was trending on Twitter all day yesterday, along with her co-star Paulo Avelino, for their performances in the movie "Fan Girl."
"Fan Girl," a Metro Manila Film Festival entry, tells the story of 16-year-old fan Jane (played by Dizon) who idolizes actor Paulo Avelino (played by Avelino).
Jane starts out as someone who looks at Paulo with rose-colored glasses. As the movie progresses, she begins to look at him as a real person.
Without revealing anything to those who have watched the movie, we'd like to say that Dizon owned "Fan Girl." Avelino was, as usual, very impressive but it was Dizon's movie and we're very excited how she takes on her roles in the future.
The film, which was directed by Antoinette Jadaone, first premiered at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival. This was produced by ABS-CBN Films' Black Sheep, Globe Studios, Project 8, Epicmedia and Crossword Productions.
